Qoder
Alibaba's agentic coding platform: Quest Mode autonomous agents, RepoWiki docs, MCP support.
About
Qoder is Alibaba's agentic coding platform, launched globally in August 2025. It centers on enhanced context engineering — understanding architecture and design patterns across the whole codebase — with two modes: Agent Mode for conversational pair programming with human-in-the-loop checkpoints, and Quest Mode, an autonomous agent that takes a spec, generates an execution plan, implements, tests, and verifies end to end. RepoWiki turns tribal codebase knowledge into structured documentation automatically, and a proprietary Next-Edit-Suggestion model predicts your next change on Tab. It ships as a standalone IDE, a JetBrains plugin, a CLI with Python/TypeScript SDKs, and a Cloud Agents API, natively supporting MCP, custom subagents, hooks, and skills.
The honest picture: Qoder is young, and its ecosystem of community rules, plugins, and third-party integrations is far thinner than Cursor's or VS Code's. Credit-based pricing was still being finalized after the public preview, so costs for heavy agent usage are a moving target. Teams with strict data-residency policies should also evaluate what code context flows to Alibaba-operated infrastructure before adopting.
What it can do
- Quest Mode: autonomous end-to-end task execution
- RepoWiki: auto-generated codebase documentation
- Next-Edit-Suggestion predictive completions
- Multi-model support with intelligent cost scheduling
Setup
Download the Qoder IDE for macOS/Windows, install the JetBrains plugin, or use the CLI. Global public preview is free to try.
Prerequisites
macOS or Windows for the standalone IDE; a JetBrains IDE for the plugin.
