About

Particle is an AI-powered news reader for iOS, Android, and the web that turns the day's reporting into summarized stories with key quotes, context, and links. The app shows how coverage of a story spreads across outlets, highlights journalist bylines you can follow, and offers entity pages so readers can go deeper on people, teams, and topics. Unlike most AI news tools, Particle links prominently back to original publishers and has content partnerships with Reuters, Fortune, and AFP.

The company was founded in 2023 by former Twitter product leader Sara Beykpour and former Twitter and Tesla engineer Marcel Molina under Mina Labs. Particle raised a $4.4 million seed round and a $10.9 million Series A led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, both announced in 2024. The app launched in late 2024 and expanded to the web at particle.news in May 2025. The app is free; the company also offers a developer-facing Podcast Intelligence API.

Docked for: (1) summary accuracy claims not independently benchmarked; (2) still small next to incumbents with an unclear monetization path. License: proprietary.
