Odyssey
Interactive world models — generate explorable real-time environments from text prompts.
About
Odyssey is a California world-model lab founded in 2023 by self-driving veterans Oliver Cameron and Jeff Hawke (Pixar co-founder Ed Catmull sits on the board). Its models generate interactive video worlds in real time: you type a prompt, then walk through the resulting environment in first or third person while it responds to your input. Odyssey-3, unveiled September 2026 with a free public research preview in October, is a 14-billion-parameter autoregressive diffusion transformer the company positions as one unified model for robots, cars, drones and games rather than a demo toy. The company raised a $310M Series B in June 2026.
The honest picture: this is still research software wearing a product demo. The free preview runs a smaller Flash variant at modest resolution (base model is 832×480), coherence drifts over longer sessions, and the API is gated behind an application process with no public pricing. Odyssey's real customers are robotics and simulation teams, not filmmakers — if you want a finished video clip, a purpose-built video generator will serve you better today.
What it can do
- Text-prompted interactive environments rendered in real time
- First- and third-person exploration with live input response
- Odyssey-3 Flash free public demo
- Developer API for robotics, driving and game applications
- Multimodal lineage: Starchild-1 adds synced audio
Setup
Try the free research preview at odyssey.ml in the browser. Developers can apply for API access at developer.odyssey.ml.
Prerequisites
A modern browser for the demo. API access requires an approved application; no public self-serve tier yet.
