Novu
Open-source notification infrastructure with a unified API for every channel.
About
Novu is open-source notification infrastructure that replaces per-channel integrations with a single API. Teams define workflows once and deliver across in-app, email, SMS, push, and chat through 60 or more provider integrations, with a digest engine that batches noisy events, subscriber preference management, and an embeddable React inbox component.
More recently Novu added an Agent Communication Infrastructure layer aimed at connecting AI agents to Slack, Microsoft Teams, WhatsApp, Telegram, and email without rebuilding webhooks, identity, and delivery logic per platform. The core is MIT-licensed open source and can be self-hosted, with a managed cloud for teams that want it run for them. It is the open-source default in a category that also includes managed platforms like Knock and Courier.
What it can do
- Single API for in-app, email, SMS, push, and chat notifications
- Workflow engine with batching, delays, digests, and conditional logic
