Monarch Tractor
Electric driver-optional smart tractor with AI autonomy; operations reportedly ceased in 2026.
Retired
Monarch Tractor appears to be discontinued or shut down — Reportedly ceased most or all operations in early 2026 after lawsuits, layoffs, production halt and HQ closure (per Wikipedia and ag press). This page is kept as an archive record and is excluded from search engines.
About
Monarch Tractor was founded in 2018 in Livermore, California to build the MK-V, pitched as the world's first fully electric, driver-optional smart tractor aimed at vineyards, orchards and dairy farms. The MK-V ran on the NVIDIA Jetson edge AI platform, offered pre-programmed autonomous operation plus a follow-me Shadow mode, 360-degree cameras with collision and rollover prevention, and doubled as a mobile power generator in the field. The company raised over $240 million, including a record $133 million Series C in August 2024, and contracted Foxconn to manufacture the tractor in Ohio.
In 2025 and 2026 the company faced dealer lawsuits over its autonomy claims, then layoffs, the end of Ohio production and the closure of its Livermore headquarters; by early 2026 it had reportedly ceased most or all operations. The website remains online but new purchases should be treated as unsupported hardware. Listed here for historical completeness; farms evaluating autonomous tractors should choose an actively operating vendor.

Use cases
Works with
Trust score — 5/10
Scored 5/10 (verified tier, metrics-v1). Evidence: $240M+ raised; 400+ MK-V tractors reportedly deployed; Nvidia edge-AI platform. Strengths: genuinely novel product category, strong early funding, real shipments. Docked for: (1) reportedly ceased operations in early 2026 after dealer lawsuits and layoffs, so no future support; (2) autonomy claims were disputed by dealers, undermining headline specs. License: Proprietary hardware + software; no new sales.
