Memgraph
In-memory graph database for GraphRAG and agentic AI.
About
Memgraph is a high-performance, in-memory graph database built in C/C++ and aimed at real-time AI context: GraphRAG pipelines, AI memory systems, and agentic workflows. It combines built-in text and vector indexes with full graph traversal in a single query layer, so hybrid retrieval can run as one atomic database operation rather than being scattered across systems.
It is fully compatible with Neo4j's Cypher query language, ACID-compliant, and highly available. Recent additions include an AI Graph Toolkit for porting SQL and unstructured data into knowledge graphs and an MCP client inside Memgraph Lab. The codebase is triple-licensed (APL, BSL 1.1, MEL) per third-party license surveys; verify the exact license for your use case.
What it can do
- In-memory C/C++ engine with sub-millisecond traversals
- Cypher query language, Neo4j driver compatible
- Built-in text, vector, and geospatial indexes
- MAGE graph algorithm library and AI Toolkit
- MCP server and agentic framework integrations
Setup
Run via Docker or download from memgraph.com; connect with any Neo4j-compatible Bolt driver on port 7687. Memgraph Lab provides a visual interface.
Prerequisites
Docker or a supported OS; familiarity with Cypher for querying.
