Lexion
AI contract management, now part of Docusign IAM
Acquired — still operating
Acquired by Docusign for $165M in May 2024; technology folded into Docusign IAM and Navigator.
About
Lexion was an AI-powered contract lifecycle platform founded in 2019 out of the Allen Institute for AI in Seattle, known for automated term extraction, no-code intake workflows, and an AI Contract Assist plugin for Word built on large language models. In May 2024 Docusign acquired it for $165 million and began folding its technology into the Docusign Intelligent Agreement Management (IAM) platform and Docusign Navigator, with much of the Lexion team joining Docusign's product and engineering org. As a standalone product it is effectively in maintenance: new capability ships through Docusign's platform, and buyers evaluating it today are really evaluating Docusign IAM. No public benchmarks for its extraction accuracy were ever published.
What it can do
- AI term and date extraction
- no-code intake and approval workflows
- AI contract assistant for Word (legacy)
- contract repository with structured data
Setup
Engage Docusign sales for IAM/Navigator; the standalone Lexion product is no longer sold separately.
Prerequisites
A Docusign IAM or Navigator subscription for current capability.
Use cases
Works with
Trust score — 6/10
Scored 6/10 (METRICS tier, metrics-v1). Evidence: real product with $36M raised and a documented $165M acquisition by Docusign in May 2024; the tech demonstrably shipped into IAM/Navigator. Strengths: strong AI pedigree (Allen Institute founders, ex-Amazon/Meta team), genuine acquisition outcome. Docked for: (1) standalone product is discontinued — future is entirely Docusign's roadmap; (2) never had a public self-serve API, and no independent accuracy benchmarks exist. License: commercial, proprietary.
