About

Latent AI is an edge AI deployment platform built around its Latent AI Efficient Inference Platform (LEIP). It compiles, compresses, and deploys models for any hardware target, framework, or operating system, claiming up to 10x model compression without accuracy loss and a secure MLOps pipeline for rapid field updates. The company is a 2018 spinout from SRI International by researchers Sek Chai and Jags Kandasamy, with roots in DARPA-funded ML research.

Latent AI has raised $29.5 million across three rounds and works with defense and industrial organizations including the US Navy, Wind River (an Aptiv company), Dell, Qualcomm, and NVIDIA. In September 2025 it announced a strategic collaboration with Wind River integrating LEIP with VxWorks and Wind River Linux for mission-critical edge systems. The compression and speed claims are vendor-stated, and the customer base skews heavily toward defense and enterprise, so it is a serious tool for teams deploying AI to disconnected or constrained hardware rather than a general developer playground.

What it can do

  • LEIP: compile, compress (up to 10x claimed), and deploy models to any hardware target
  • Secure MLOps pipeline for rapid model iteration and redeployment
  • Hardware-agnostic: works across accelerators, processors, and operating systems
  • Python API access to the full ML pipeline
  • Defense-grade customers: US Navy, Wind River, and industrial partners
  • Adaptive updates for model drift in the field

Setup

  1. Contact Latent AI at latentai.com or request a demo to scope your edge deployment.
  2. Bring your trained model and target hardware (the platform supports diverse processors and OS targets).
  3. Use LEIP to compress, quantize, and compile the model for your hardware.
  4. Deploy through the secure MLOps pipeline and push field updates as conditions change.

Prerequisites

A trained neural network and target edge hardware; engagement with Latent AI (enterprise licensing).

Trust score — 7/10

/10 trustMetrics-checked

Scored 7/10 (metrics tier, metrics-v1). Evidence: SRI spinout with $29.5M raised across three rounds (SRI case study); Wind River collaboration announced via Business Wire (Sept 2025); latentai.com verified live with Navy and enterprise testimonials. Strengths: real deployments in mission-critical settings, strong partner roster, active product. Docked for: (1) compression and accuracy claims are vendor-stated; (2) defense/enterprise skew makes independent evaluation hard for general developers. License: proprietary.
