hyper-mcp
Fast, secure MCP server extended through WebAssembly plugins.
About
hyper-mcp is an open-source MCP server that extends its capabilities through WebAssembly plugins built on Extism. Developers write plugins in any language that compiles to WASM, package them via Dockerfiles, and distribute them through standard OCI container registries.
It works with Claude Desktop, Cursor IDE, and other MCP-compatible clients, supports all three MCP transports (stdio, SSE, and Streamable HTTP), and runs anywhere from cloud to edge and IoT devices. Security is a core design point: sandboxed plugins with resource limits, signed OCI images verified with Sigstore, and fine-grained host function access control.
What it can do
- WASM plugin system via Extism
- OCI registry plugin distribution
- All three MCP transports supported
- Sandboxed execution with Sigstore verification
- Tool name prefixes to prevent collisions
Setup
Install from the GitHub releases and configure plugins in $HOME/.config/mcp.json.
Prerequisites
An MCP-compatible client such as Claude Desktop or Cursor.
