Hypar
Generative design platform for buildings
About
Hypar is a cloud platform, founded in 2018 by ex-Autodesk engineers Anthony Hauck and Dynamo creator Ian Keough, that generates hundreds of building design variations from code-defined design logic in Python and C#. It made headlines in 2023 with a text-to-BIM demo wiring ChatGPT into its building generators, and Hypar 2.0 (2024) pivoted toward space planning with a web interface usable without scripting. It supports open IFC exchange and a marketplace of generative functions, though it remains a small team and the AI story is more about automation infrastructure than a trained design model.
What it can do
- Cloud generative building design
- Python/C# function SDK
- Text-to-BIM experiments
- Space planning interface (2.0)
- Open IFC export
Setup
- Visit https://hypar.io
- Create an account
- Write or pick generative functions
- Generate and compare building options in the browser
Prerequisites
Web browser; scripting helps for custom functions

Trust score — 7/10
Scored 7/10 (verified tier, metrics-v1). Evidence: Founded 2018 by Anthony Hauck and Ian Keough (Dynamo creator) — corroborated by AEC Magazine and Building Ventures; Text-to-BIM ChatGPT experiment (2023) and Hypar 2.0 space-planning pivot (2024) documented by AEC Magazine; Official URL hypar.io verbatim from press/video coverage. Manual review: entry keeps the small-team and automation-infrastructure framing honest. License: Commercial SaaS; open SDK and IFC support.
