Helicon
A proper home for Meta's Muse Code: every session, diff, and approval in one window.
About
Helicon is a free, MIT-licensed desktop app and VS Code extension for Meta's Muse Code CLI, which shipped in August 2026 as a terminal-only agent. It runs the muse CLI you already have on the plan you already pay for: every project and session sits in one sidebar (including sessions started in the terminal), approvals are shown exactly as Muse Code asks for them and never bypassed, edits appear as inline diffs where they happened, and the app shows your real 5-hour and weekly plan meters plus what each thread would cost at API rates. It is native on Windows (no WSL needed), macOS, and Linux, bundles its own Node.js, and stores no credentials of its own. Eight contributors ship it as a community project; it is unofficial and not endorsed by Meta, though Muse Code team members praised it publicly.
What it can do
- All Muse Code projects and threads in one sidebar, including terminal-started sessions (provider-claimed)
- Inline diffs with keep and undo, shown where the edit happened (provider-claimed)
- One-at-a-time approvals showing the exact command, never bypassed (provider-claimed)
- Real 5-hour and weekly plan meters plus per-thread cost at API rates (provider-claimed)
- Native Windows (no WSL), macOS, Linux, plus VS Code/Open VSX extension (provider-claimed)
- Workflows, side chats, and SSH projects built in (provider-claimed)
Setup
- Install the
museCLI and runmuse loginonce. - Download Helicon for Windows, macOS, or Linux from helicon.sh, or install the extension from the VS Code Marketplace / Open VSX.
- Open a project folder — threads group by folder with inline diffs, approvals, and usage meters.
- Try the in-browser demo at helicon.sh/try before installing anything.
Prerequisites
`muse` CLI installed and signed in; a Muse Code plan or pay-as-you-go billing.
Use cases
Works with
Trust score — 5/10
Scored 8/10 (METRICS tier, metrics-v1). Evidence: MIT-licensed open source, fully auditable on GitHub (github.com/HarjjotSinghh/helicon, 20,092 stars, 8 contributors as of Oct 17, 2026); uses the user's existing muse login and stores no credentials of its own; official URL verified live (200, Oct 2026); publicly praised by Meta's Muse Code team members. Strengths: open source, no second bill, conservative permissions posture. Docked for: (1) unofficial community project — no Meta endorsement or support guarantees; (2) young project (Oct 2026), feature set tracks the muse CLI's API surface; (3) trademark-adjacent naming around Meta's Muse marks. License: MIT.
