Gradio
Turn any Python function into a shareable AI web app in a few lines of code.
About
Gradio is an open-source Python library for building interactive web interfaces for machine learning models, APIs, or any Python function — typically in under ten lines of code. It ships 40+ components covering chatbots, images, audio, video, dataframes, 3D models, and galleries, with theming, queuing, and authentication for production-ish use.
Gradio is the default SDK for Hugging Face Spaces, the free hosting platform where hundreds of thousands of model demos live; demo.launch() plus a git push to a Space gives you a public URL with zero infrastructure work. It has become the standard way researchers and AI engineers demo models, gather feedback, and build internal tools without touching JavaScript.
Limitations: Gradio apps are demos and prototypes, not a replacement for a designed product UI; heavy traffic needs queuing and paid compute on Spaces; and the auto-generated interface, while fast, offers limited control over layout compared to a hand-built frontend.
What it can do
- 40+ UI components (chat, image, audio, video, 3D)
- One-command local launch with shareable links
- Native Hugging Face Spaces deployment
- Queuing, theming, and auth for heavier use
- Streaming support for LLM chat interfaces
Setup
pip install gradio; write a Python function, wrap it in gr.Interface, and call demo.launch(). Deploy free on Hugging Face Spaces by selecting Gradio as the SDK.
Prerequisites
Python 3.8+; a model or function to demo.
