GPT Pilot
Historical open-source AI developer that wrote full apps; now the Pythagora platform.
Retired
GPT Pilot appears to be discontinued or shut down — OSS repo archived; commercial Pythagora continues This page is kept as an archive record and is excluded from search engines.
About
GPT Pilot was an open-source AI developer tool from Pythagora (a Y Combinator W24 company) that built full-stack applications from natural-language instructions, using specialized agents for planning, coding, testing, and debugging. It raised 4 million dollars in 2024 and gathered around 32,000 GitHub stars under the MIT license.
The open-source repository is now archived and unmaintained; development moved to the commercial Pythagora hosted platform. Caution: in June 2026 a security researcher disclosed that a malicious supply-chain commit sat in the repo from August 2025 until its removal, capable of harvesting credentials on machines that ran it, so anyone who ran GPT Pilot from source in that window should rotate credentials.
What it can do
- Pioneered the multi-agent AI developer workflow
- Specialized agents for planning, coding, testing, and debugging
- Evolved into the commercial Pythagora platform
Setup
Historical entry: the open-source CLI is archived; the live product is the Pythagora hosted platform.
Prerequisites
None for the archived repo; a Pythagora account for the hosted platform.
