About

Google Drive is the default cloud drive for most of the internet: 15 GB free per account (shared across Drive, Gmail, and Photos), then Google One plans at $1.99/month for 100 GB, $2.99/month for 200 GB, and $9.99/month for 2 TB, scaling to 30 TB. The killer feature is the built-in suite — Docs, Sheets, and Slides with real-time multi-user editing that Dropbox and friends cannot match — plus strong search, version history, offline access, and apps on every platform.

Honest limits: there is no end-to-end encryption and Google's data practices make it the wrong home for sensitive files if that bothers you. The 15 GB shared quota fills fast once Gmail and Photos are counted, and pricing is only competitive at the consumer tiers — business needs mean Google Workspace. No published performance benchmarks found.

What it can do

  • 15 GB free storage shared across Drive, Gmail, and Photos
  • Real-time collaboration in Docs, Sheets, and Slides
  • Google One upgrades: 100 GB to 30 TB, family sharing up to 5 members
  • 30-day file versioning and Trash recovery
  • Full-text and image-aware search across all files
  • Offline access via Drive for Desktop and mobile apps

Setup

Trust score — 9/10

/10 trustVerified

Scored 9/10 (VERIFIED tier, metrics-v1). Evidence: free-tier size and Google One pricing consistent across flozic, wps, pickify, and toolradar 2026 sources; vendor pricing page read by toolradar Sep 2026. Strengths: the most generous mainstream free tier, unmatched real-time collaboration, cross-platform polish. Docked for: (1) no end-to-end encryption and Google's data-scanning model (provider states no E2E; privacy concerns across sources); (2) storage quota shared with Gmail/Photos fills quickly. License: proprietary SaaS.
