Gling

About

Gling is a desktop app for Mac and PC that does the tedious first pass of video editing automatically: it transcribes your recording, removes silences, filler words, and bad takes, and lets you refine the cut by editing the transcript text. It also adds AI captions, auto-zoom framing, noise removal, multicam editing, and AI B-roll, then exports to Premiere, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve via XML, or as MP4/MP3 with SRT subtitles.

The free plan includes 1 hour of AI-edited media per month with watermarked exports, and paid plans run from $20 per month (Plus, 10 hours) to $100 per month (Elite) on annual billing. Gling also ships YouTube-specific helpers like a title generator, chapter generator, and next-video suggestions. It is a weak fit for browser-only workflows or already-tight footage, since it is desktop-only and primarily automates rough-cut cleanup.

What it can do

  • Automatic removal of bad takes, silences, and filler words
  • Text-based transcript editing of the video timeline
  • AI captions with SRT export
  • Auto framing (zoom in/out) and multicam editing
  • Noise removal and speech audio enhancement
  • AI B-roll generation on Pro tier and above
  • XML export to Premiere, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve
  • YouTube title, chapter, and next-video idea generators
  • Viral-clip generation from video links

Setup

  1. Download Gling for Mac or Windows and create an account.
  2. Import your raw talking-head or voiceover footage.
  3. Let AI cut silences and bad takes, then refine in the text-based transcript editor.
  4. Export via XML to your NLE of choice, or as MP4/MP3 with SRT captions.

Prerequisites

A Mac or Windows computer; raw footage to process.

Trust score — 7/10

/10 trustMetrics-checked

Scored 7/10 (TIER metrics, metrics-v1). Evidence: multiple 2026 reviews document a live free tier (1 hr/mo watermarked) and paid tiers $20-$100/mo; desktop app with consistent feature lists across independent review sources; XML handoff workflow to major NLEs. Strengths: clear value proposition for rough-cut automation, generous free trial of the core workflow, professional-editor integration. Docked for: (1) cutting accuracy and transcription quality are provider-claimed, not hands-on tested; (2) English-only transcription per directory listings and desktop-only delivery limits reach. License: proprietary.
