GitHub Spark
Describe an app in plain English — Spark builds and deploys the full-stack app on Azure.
About
GitHub Spark, launched July 2025, is GitHub's natural-language app builder inside Copilot. Describe an idea — "a task tracker with React frontend, Node API, and auth" — and Spark generates the full-stack app (frontend, backend, database, auth, AI features) powered by Claude Sonnet 4, with instant live preview and one-click deployment to Azure. Every app gets a real GitHub repo with Actions and Dependabot, so you can drop into a Codespace and keep iterating with Copilot agent mode.
The honest picture: it requires a Copilot Pro+ subscription ($39/month), which prices out casual experimenters, and generated apps are template-shaped — fine for prototypes, but production apps need real engineering afterward. You are also locked into Azure hosting and GitHub auth for the deployed app. As with all vibe-coding tools, non-technical users can ship things they cannot maintain.
What it can do
- Natural-language to full-stack app generation
- Instant live preview with visual editing controls
- One-click Azure deployment with GitHub auth
- Real GitHub repo with Actions and Dependabot per app
- Built-in LLM features from OpenAI, Meta, DeepSeek, xAI
- Codespace handoff for continued development with Copilot
Setup
