git-gud
Stacked-diffs CLI for GitHub and GitLab — Gerrit-style review without leaving git.
About
git-gud (gg) is an open-source stacked-diffs CLI for GitHub and GitLab, inspired by Gerrit, Phabricator, and Graphite. It turns each commit in a stack into its own PR/MR with proper dependency chains: gg co to create stacks, gg sync to push updates, gg land to merge approved PRs (with CI-wait and auto-merge options), plus commit editing commands like gg absorb, gg split, and interactive gg reorder.
It ships a Claude Code plugin and an MCP server (19 tools) so AI coding agents can operate stacked-diff workflows directly. Active development (v0.4.x), written in Rust with strict quality gates (cargo fmt, clippy, tests). The pitch is simple: Graphite's workflow without the vendor lock-in — it's just git underneath.
What it can do
- Stacked PR/MR creation and syncing
- CI-aware landing with auto-merge
- Commit editing: absorb, split, reorder
- MCP server for AI agent workflows
- Claude Code plugin included
Setup
Install the gg binary, run gg setup in a repo (needs gh or glab CLI authenticated).
Prerequisites
Git; GitHub CLI (`gh`) or GitLab CLI (`glab`) authenticated.
