About

GameDriver is a test automation platform for games and XR experiences built on Unity and Unreal Engine. Its HierarchyPath query language lets QA teams find and manipulate any object, property, or method in a running scene, and the platform simulates keyboard, mouse, gamepad, touch, and XR inputs to reproduce real player behavior. The company says tests can run write-once across iOS, Android, PC, consoles, and XR headsets without changes to the game project.

The company is an authorized middleware provider for both Sony PlayStation (PS4 and PS5, including PS VR and PS VR2) and Nintendo Switch, which puts its tooling on the official developer portals for those consoles. In 2025 GameDriver released Test Assistant, a standalone tool that lets testers connect to a device, inspect objects and logs, and build automated tests without opening the engine editor or source code. It targets studios running live-service games where regression testing has to keep pace with constant content updates.

What it can do

  • Automated input simulation (keyboard, mouse, gamepad, touch, XR)
  • HierarchyPath runtime object querying
  • On-device testing on PlayStation and Nintendo Switch dev kits
  • Test Assistant: test authoring without the engine editor
  • Recorder that generates test code from captured inputs
  • Cross-platform write-once test execution

Setup

  1. Install the GameDriver agent into your Unity or Unreal project (no code changes required).
  2. Connect the Test Assistant to your build on device or in the editor.
  3. Record user inputs or write tests with the client API and HierarchyPath queries.
  4. Run the suite across target devices and review logs and object state on failure.

Prerequisites

Unity or Unreal Engine project; Test Assistant is Windows-only at launch.

Trust score — 7/10

/10 trustVerified

Scored 7/10 (verified tier, metrics-v1). Evidence: authorized middleware provider for PlayStation and Nintendo Switch (company announcements, GoNintendo); Test Assistant 2025.01 release with documented feature set (company knowledge base). Strengths: rare dual-console middleware status, real product used on official dev portals, active 2025 releases. Docked for: (1) AI-specific claims are thin, it is primarily a scripted automation platform; (2) pricing and adoption numbers are not public. License: proprietary.
