IDE-style autocomplete for the terminal — acquired by AWS, now Amazon Q Developer CLI.

About
Fig added IDE-style autocomplete to existing terminal emulators: dropdown suggestions for commands, flags, and arguments across 500+ CLIs (git, npm, docker, aws), plus natural-language-to-bash translation. Its completion specs were community-driven and open source. Amazon acquired Fig in August 2023; the standalone product sunset in September 2024.
Fig's technology lives on as the Amazon Q Developer CLI (install via brew install amazon-q), which carries forward the autocomplete plus AI code generation and natural-language interaction. Free on the Individual tier, it works with Bash, Zsh, and Fish, and supports SSH sessions on remote machines.
What it can do
- IDE-style autocomplete for 500+ CLIs
- Natural language to bash translation

- SSH remote-machine support
- Open-source autocomplete spec ecosystem
Setup
