About

farm-ng was a Watsonville, California company building the Amiga, a modular electric robot aimed at small and mid-sized farms rather than the big-acre operations most ag robotics target. The base chassis accepts interchangeable implements for seeding, weeding, spraying and transport, and runs an open-architecture software stack with a grower-friendly dashboard, a Job Manager for saving and repeating tasks, and over-the-air updates. The company raised a $10 million Series A and its open developer platform made the Amiga a favorite in university research programs as well as working farms.

In July 2025 Bonsai Robotics, a San Jose vision-autonomy company, acquired farm-ng; the combined company operates as Bonsai Robotics and continues the Amiga lineup (Amiga Flex, Trax and Max) now running Bonsai's GPS-free, vision-based autonomy stack with fleet management. Leadership includes OpenCV founder Gary Bradski as chief scientist. Caveat: as a young combined company, long-term parts and service availability still matter; check current dealer and support coverage before committing.

What it can do

  • Modular electric Amiga robots (Flex, Trax, Max) with interchangeable implements
  • Vision-based autonomy that navigates without GPS under canopy
  • Job Manager for planning, saving and repeating field tasks
  • Open software stack for custom developer apps
  • Fleet management with real-time telemetry and job planning

Setup

Order Amiga configurations via Bonsai Robotics; attach implements and plan tasks in the on-robot dashboard.

Prerequisites

Small to mid-sized farm operation or research program; compatible implements for intended tasks.

Trust score — 7/10

/10 trustVerified

Scored 7/10 (verified tier, metrics-v1). Evidence: $10M Series A (2024); World Ag Expo Top 10 New Product 2024; OTA-updated software stack. Strengths: genuinely open developer platform, rare affordability focus for small farms, research adoption. Docked for: (1) young company with unproven long-term service network; (2) smaller installed base than incumbents. License: Proprietary robot + open software architecture; published configuration pricing.
