About
ElizaOS is an open-source TypeScript framework and product stack for autonomous AI agents, shipping a runtime, app, CLI, cloud services, and a plugin ecosystem. It grew out of the crypto-native ai16z project launched in October 2024, which became one of the most-starred AI repositories on GitHub — roughly 19,100 stars and 5,600 forks as of August 2026 — and rebranded to elizaOS on January 28, 2025 after Andreessen Horowitz asked for the name change.
The framework supports agents that browse, debug code, analyze strategies, and operate across chains and platforms, with local inference via the Eliza-1 model family and routing through Eliza Cloud. Eliza Labs announced a research partnership with Stanford's Future of Digital Currency Initiative in December 2024. Note: the $ELIZAOS token migrated from AI16Z in November 2025 at a 1:6 ratio, but the framework itself is MIT-licensed and runs with no token purchase required — treat token claims as speculative, not as part of the dev tool.
