About

AI voice platform for text-to-speech, voice cloning, speech-to-text, and conversational voice agents. Its Eleven v4 model (launched ~Sept/Oct 2026) supports 90+ languages with a low-latency v4 Turbo variant for real-time agents.

Developers get official Python/JS SDKs (MIT-licensed), WebSocket streaming, and a credit-based API with a free tier (10k credits, non-commercial). Pricing tiers and per-model character rates below are third-party reported and can change — confirm in the live docs.

What it can do

  • Text-to-speech (Eleven v3/v4, Multilingual v2, Flash, Turbo); v4 handles 10k chars/request in 90+ languages
  • Instant and Professional voice cloning; shared Voice Library + voice design tools
  • Speech-to-text (90+ languages per independent coverage)
  • Real-time conversational AI agents with custom tool calls, interruption handling, and WebSocket streaming
  • Official Python/JS SDKs (MIT-licensed) + plain REST API with SSML support
  • Multilingual dubbing with performance preservation; 44.1kHz PCM output on Pro+

Setup

  1. Create an account at elevenlabs.io (free tier: 10k credits/month, non-commercial).
  2. Copy your API key from the dashboard.
  3. Install the SDK: pip install elevenlabs.
  4. Convert text: client.text_to_speech.convert(text=..., voice_id=..., model_id="eleven_v4") — or stream it in real time.
  5. Clone a voice (Instant Voice Cloning from the Starter plan; Professional Voice Cloning from Creator) via the dashboard or SDK.
  6. Build voice agents with Conversational AI: create an agent in the dashboard and wire custom tools via the SDK.

Trust score — 7/10

/10 trustMetrics-checked

Category benchmark for voice quality with independent confirmation of active shipping (Eleven v4 launched weeks ago, available via API) and a well-maintained official SDK (MIT). It's closed-source SaaS, and voice cloning carries real data/consent and privacy considerations for user data. Credit-based pricing is complex and needs monitoring at scale, but the free tier makes evaluation cheap. Pricing figures are third-party reported — provider-claimed until confirmed in live docs.
