ECC

Agent-harness operating system: 71 agents, 311 skills, hooks, memory, and security scanning for coding agents.

About

ECC is an MIT-licensed system that sits on top of coding agents and gives them a coordinated engineering workflow: plan, test, implement, review, verify, remember, improve. It ships 71 specialized agents (planning, review, build repair, security, architecture), 311 skills (TDD, research, security, docs, frontend, data, ML, operations), 97 command shims, hooks, rules, persistent memory with continuous learning, and AgentShield scanning for prompts, hooks, MCP configs, permissions, and secrets. It works best with Claude Code, has native paths for Codex and Qoder, and offers capability-limited adapters for Cursor, OpenCode, Gemini, Zed, GitHub Copilot, Antigravity, and Qwen. The open-source repo stays free; a hosted ECC Pro GitHub App handles private repos for a fee.

What it can do

  • 71 specialized agents: planning, review, build repair, security, architecture, domain work
  • 311 skills covering TDD, research, security, docs, frontend, data, ML, operations
  • Hooks and rules for enforcement, session summaries, instincts, and context controls
  • Persistent memory and continuous learning: repeated wins become reusable skills and workflows
  • AgentShield security scanning for prompts, hooks, MCP config, permissions, secrets, and agent files
  • Token-optimization discipline: optimize the context window, persist everything else
  • Research-first development workflow and TDD enforcement built into the default loop
  • ECC Pro hosted GitHub App for private repos; the OSS repo is MIT-licensed and stays free

Setup

  1. Install Node.js 18+ (plus Git and Claude Code 2.1+ on PATH for the Claude plugin path).
  2. Run the guided setup wizard:

```
npx ecc-universal@2.2.3 setup
```

  1. For multiple harnesses (Claude Code + Codex + Kimi Code) in one reviewed flow:

```
npx ecc-universal@2.2.3 install --guided
```

  1. Start a new Claude Code session and confirm /plugin list shows ecc@ecc enabled.

Prerequisites

Node.js 18+; a supported coding-agent harness (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, OpenCode, or similar)

Trust score — 8/10

/10 trustMetrics-checked

The repo is MIT-licensed with 19 releases, 3,934 commits, and documented weekly shipping since January 2026, and the star count (281,052) is the highest among agent-harness projects. Two points off: it is maintained by a single person, which is a concentration risk, and the star count is so extreme that independent skepticism about bot inflation is warranted. The README itself warns to install only from verified channels, which is a good sign.
