DevCycle
OpenFeature-native feature management suite — the successor to Taplytics, now under Dynatrace.
Acquired — still operating
Acquired by Dynatrace in January 2026; operates under the Dynatrace umbrella.
About
DevCycle is a feature-management and experimentation platform launched in 2022 by the Taplytics team (Taplytics, founded 2011 in Toronto and Y Combinator-backed, shut down its original A/B testing platform and relaunched as DevCycle). It covers feature flags, A/B and multivariate experiments, beta opt-in programs, and progressive delivery across web, mobile, and backend.
A defining trait is being OpenFeature-native: flag evaluation goes through the vendor-neutral OpenFeature SDKs, so teams are not locked into a proprietary client. The big recent development: Dynatrace acquired DevCycle in January 2026 (announced 14 Jan 2026), folding feature management into its observability platform. That gives it serious backing but introduces the usual post-acquisition roadmap uncertainty. Pricing starts with a free tier; enterprise plans are custom.
What it can do
- Feature flags with progressive rollouts and kill switches
- A/B and multivariate experimentation; beta opt-in programs
- OpenFeature-native SDKs — vendor-neutral evaluation API
- Integrations: GitHub, Jira, Slack, Terraform, Vercel
- Server-side, mobile, and web support
- Usage analytics and data export for experimentation
Setup
Sign up, install an OpenFeature-compatible SDK, and manage flags and experiments from the DevCycle dashboard.
Prerequisites
Free tier available; enterprise plans custom-priced. Teams should note the Dynatrace acquisition when planning long-term.
Use cases
Works with
Trust score — 7/10
Scored 7/10 (VERIFIED tier, metrics-v1). Evidence: team lineage to Taplytics (founded 2011, YC-backed, enterprise customers like RBC, GrubHub, Warby Parker), OpenFeature-native architecture, Dynatrace acquisition confirmed January 2026 by TechTarget. Strengths: vendor-neutral evaluation via OpenFeature (genuine anti-lock-in), solid experiment types including beta programs, now backed by a major observability vendor. Docked for: (1) post-acquisition roadmap uncertainty — Dynatrace may reshape packaging; (2) rebranded platform, so long-term independent track record is short; (3) enterprise positioning with custom pricing. License: proprietary SaaS, closed-source.
