DeepCode
Machine-learning code review that finds bugs like a senior reviewer would.

About
DeepCode was a Swiss startup founded in 2016 as an ETH Zurich spin-off, billing itself as Grammarly for coders. It trained machine-learning models on millions of lines of open-source code so it could perform semantic, context-aware code review: spotting logical bugs, security vulnerabilities, API misuse, and maintainability issues across files rather than applying hand-written lint rules.
In September 2020 Snyk acquired DeepCode to strengthen the intelligence of its developer-first security platform, with the DeepCode engine living on inside what became Snyk Code. It remains a landmark example of learned, rather than rule-based, static analysis for developers.
What it can do
- ML models trained on millions of open-source code lines
- Semantic analysis across files instead of syntax-only rules
- Security vulnerability and bug detection in pull requests
- Inline review feedback inside the development workflow
Setup
Historically, developers connected GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket repositories and DeepCode reviewed pull requests automatically; the technology now ships inside Snyk Code.
Prerequisites
A Snyk account to use the successor Snyk Code product.
