Craft
Beautiful documents, notes and tasks in one native app — the Apple-ecosystem answer to Notion.
About
Craft is what happens when a design obsessive rebuilds the document. Founded in Budapest in 2019 by Balint Orosz — who previously ran mobile strategy at Skyscanner after it acquired his agency, Distinction — it is built natively for Mac, iOS and the web, with the speed and polish that won it Apple's Mac App of the Year in the 2021 App Store Awards and a 2021 Apple Design Award finalist nod. It raised an $8 million Series A led by Creandum in 2021 and a $12.2 million extension in 2022.
The product blends docs, tasks, calendar, whiteboards and daily notes without the database-everywhere complexity of Notion: notes scale into structured documents, tasks live inside your writing, and collections, tags and deep linking hold projects together. Real-time sync works offline as well as on, and in 2025 Craft added an on-device AI assistant powered by Apple's Foundation Models — writing, summarizing and translating without sending content to the cloud.

Trust score — 8/10
Scored 8/10 (TIER verified, metrics-v1). Evidence: 2019 Budapest founding, $8M Creandum Series A and $12.2M extension verified by Tech.eu and Tech Funding News; Apple's 2021 Mac App of the Year confirmed by Business Wire. Strengths: award-winning native craftsmanship, real differentiation on privacy (on-device AI), active development through 2025. Docked for: (1) Apple-ecosystem-first — Windows/Android are second-class; (2) no published user counts, so scale is unverified; (3) proprietary with no self-hosting and weaker database power than Notion. License: proprietary; free plan with paid upgrades.
