Context Engineering Intro
The PRP workflow template that made context engineering mainstream — ~13k stars.
About
coleam00/Context-Engineering-Intro (~12,800 stars) is the template repo that popularized context engineering for AI coding assistants, centered on Claude Code but applicable to any agent. The core idea: stop prompt-engineering and start engineering the full context — CLAUDE.md project rules, INITIAL.md feature requests, and an examples/ folder — then run /generate-prp to produce a Product Requirements Prompt and /execute-prp to implement it end to end. It ships PRP templates for base, TypeScript, planning, and spec workflows plus a practical guide.
It's a workflow and template collection rather than installable skills, which matters for how you use it: you clone it as a starting point and adapt the rules and examples to your project. The PRP approach genuinely reduces the 'vibe coding' failure mode of under-specified agent tasks, but it adds upfront overhead — writing a good INITIAL.md and curating examples is real work, and the payoff scales with project complexity.
What it can do
- PRP (Product Requirements Prompt) generation and execution workflow
- CLAUDE.md project-rules template and INITIAL.md feature template
- PRP templates for base, TypeScript, planning, and spec use cases
- Practical guide to context engineering best practices
- Community use-case examples including multi-agent setups
Setup
Clone github.com/coleam00/Context-Engineering-Intro. Edit CLAUDE.md with your project rules, drop code examples into examples/, write your feature request in INITIAL.md, then in Claude Code run /generate-prp INITIAL.md followed by /execute-prp on the generated PRP.
Prerequisites
Claude Code (or another AI coding assistant); a project to apply it to.
