Nine hard rules for Claude Code, synthesized from Apple's leaked CLAUDE.md and Boris Cherny's tips.

About

A single SKILL.md you drop into a project (or ~/.claude/skills/) that locks down framework choices, layering boundaries, file locations, plan mode, correction capture, communication style, and safety defaults — nine rules with copy-paste templates. The author traces the rules to Apple's accidentally-leaked CLAUDE.md and to Claude Code creator Boris Cherny's published workflow tips.

That provenance is reported by the author and not independently verified, and the repo is tiny (3 stars, 2 commits). As a lightweight guardrail file it's still a cheap install.

What it can do

  • 9 drop-in rules with copy-paste templates
  • Framework and layering boundary locks
  • Plan-mode defaults and safety defaults
  • Compounding correction loop (lessons file)
  • Reproducible 5-hack demo of 0 vs 5 vulnerabilities

Setup

  1. As project rules: curl -sSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/MG-Cafe/claude-code-best-practices/main/SKILL.md > ./CLAUDE.md
  2. As a project skill: mkdir -p .claude/skills/claude-code-best-practices && curl -sSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/MG-Cafe/claude-code-best-practices/main/SKILL.md > .claude/skills/claude-code-best-practices/SKILL.md
  3. As a global skill: mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills/claude-code-best-practices && curl -sSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/MG-Cafe/claude-code-best-practices/main/SKILL.md > ~/.claude/skills/claude-code-best-practices/SKILL.md
