About

Chatbase is a no-code AI chatbot builder that trains on your content — website URLs, PDFs, Notion pages, CSVs — and produces an embeddable support agent in minutes. Founded in 2023 by Yasser Elsaid, it bootstrapped to roughly $8M ARR with a small team and serves 10,000+ customers across 140+ countries, making it one of the defining products of the train-on-your-docs wave.

The 2026 product goes beyond Q&A: 15+ models from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, DeepSeek, Grok, and others; AI Actions that let the agent perform real tasks (not just answer); a built-in helpdesk and voice/telephone support on higher tiers; and channels covering websites, WhatsApp, Slack, Messenger, Instagram, and API. Pricing runs Free (50 message credits) → Hobby $40 → Standard $150 → Pro $500, with SOC 2 Type II, GDPR, and SSO on board.

The tradeoffs are in the pricing details: credit-based billing gets unpredictable at scale, each plan includes only one agent ($25/mo per extra), removing the Powered by Chatbase badge is a $99/mo add-on, and free bots are deleted after 14 days of inactivity. Great for getting a credible support bot live fast; model your credit burn before committing.

What it can do

  • No-code training on websites, PDFs, Notion, CSVs, and helpdesk content
  • 15+ models across 6 providers with per-agent model choice
  • AI Actions: agents that perform tasks, not just answer questions
  • Built-in helpdesk, voice, and telephony on Standard and above
  • Website widget, WhatsApp, Slack, Messenger, Instagram, and REST API channels

Setup

  1. Sign up at chatbase.co and create an agent.
  2. Add sources: crawl your site, upload PDFs/CSVs, or connect Notion and helpdesk articles.
  3. Pick a model, tune the system prompt, and add AI Actions for tasks the bot should perform.
  4. Embed the widget, connect WhatsApp/Slack/Messenger, or call the API; upgrade off the free tier for production.

Prerequisites

Your content sources (site URL, docs, files). A paid plan for production use; API keys are handled by Chatbase.
