About
Magic Studio is the collection of AI tools inside Canva, and it was named one of TIME's Best Inventions of 2024. Instead of separate AI apps, generation happens inside the design canvas: Magic Design turns a prompt or uploaded image into editable layouts, Magic Media generates images, graphics and short video clips, and Magic Write drafts and rewrites copy across docs, presentations and whiteboards.
The photo tools cover the rest of the workflow: Magic Eraser removes distractions, Magic Edit replaces regions by prompt, Magic Expand extends images beyond their borders, and Magic Grab separates subjects for repositioning. Magic Switch reformats, resizes and translates designs, while Magic Animate and Magic Morph add motion. Newer additions include a conversational Canva AI partner and Dream Lab, powered by Leonardo.Ai's Phoenix model.
Magic Studio rides on Canva's freemium model: core features work on the free plan with AI usage allowances, and Pro unlocks higher limits plus the Brand Kit controls that keep AI output on-brand.
