ByteRover
Portable memory layer for AI coding agents with git-like versioning.
About
ByteRover is a file-based memory layer that gives AI coding agents persistent, structured memory across sessions. Its CLI (brv) builds a context tree of project knowledge with semantic retrieval, and the 2.0 release added git-like version control for context (branch, commit, merge, push/pull) plus cloud sync so memory travels across machines, tools, and teammates.
It works with 20+ LLM providers and over 20 coding agents including Cursor, Claude Code, Windsurf, and Cline, and ships an MCP server for agent interoperability. The project, formerly known as Cipher, launched on Product Hunt through 2025 with multiple releases and installs via a shell script or npm as byterover-cli.
