Bento
The design-forward link-in-bio that Linktree bought, then folded into itself.
Acquired — still operating
Acquired by Linktree in 2023; the standalone Bento.me service was sunset on February 13, 2026 and the domain now redirects to Linktree.
About
Bento was a polished link-in-bio tool for creators, founded in May 2022 in Zurich by Selim Benayat and Mugeeb Hassan and backed by Sequoia (TechCrunch, February 2023). Unlike plain link routers, Bento pages displayed content directly: videos, podcasts, newsletters, photos, products, and calendars embedded in a portfolio-style page on a bento.me URL. Linktree acquired it in 2023, kept it running for a transition period, and then shut the standalone service down on February 13, 2026; all Bento profile data was deleted and bento.me now redirects to linktr.ee. Linktree says it added Bento-inspired visual layouts, content blocks, and media embeds to its own product, and offered migrating users a Linktree Pro deal.
This entry is kept for the historical record: Bento mattered because it pushed the whole category toward richer, content-first bio pages. It is not a tool you can sign up for anymore. No logo is attached since the standalone brand no longer exists and its domain redirects.
What it can do
- Portfolio-style link-in-bio pages (historical)
- Direct content embeds: video, podcasts, newsletters, photos
- Digital product showcases
- Calendar and availability blocks
- Custom bento.me URLs (historical)
Setup

Prerequisites
None; the service is discontinued.
Use cases
Works with
Trust score — 6/10
Scored 6/10 (metrics tier, metrics-v1). Evidence: TechCrunch (Feb 2023) documents the 2022 founding, the founder pair, and Sequoia backing; AlternativeTo (Dec 2025) documents the Linktree acquisition and the February 13, 2026 shutdown with profile-data deletion, and bento.me currently redirects to linktr.ee. Strengths: genuinely raised the bar for content-first bio pages before acquisition. Docked for: (1) the product no longer exists as a standalone service; (2) user data was deleted rather than preserved; (3) acquisition terms were never disclosed. License: proprietary (defunct product).
