Benthos
Declarative stream processor, now Redpanda Connect.
Rebranded
renamed to Redpanda Connect after Redpanda acquisition May 2024
About
Benthos was an open-source stream processor written in Go that connected data sources to sinks through declarative YAML pipelines, with hundreds of connectors and a built-in mapping language called Bloblang for transforming messages. On May 30, 2024, Redpanda Data acquired it and renamed it Redpanda Connect, folding it into its end-to-end streaming data platform.
The rename and introduction of enterprise-licensed connectors prompted the WarpStream team to fork the project as Bento within 24 hours to keep a fully open-source version alive. Existing pipelines describe Benthos under its current name Redpanda Connect, with the Bento fork as the community-maintained alternative.
