About

Avvir is an automated construction verification platform that compares the reality of a jobsite against the original BIM to catch deviations before they become expensive rework. Customers submit their BIM, then either have Avvir scan the site as work progresses or scan it themselves with laser scanners or 360 photos. The platform continually compares as-built conditions against the design model, displaying deviated elements with measurements of how far out of tolerance each one is, plus per-trade progress data showing which elements are installed and, with a 4D BIM, how progress tracks against the schedule.

Founded in New York City in 2017, Avvir was acquired by Hexagon AB in 2022 and integrated into its Geosystems division alongside BricsCAD and the HxGN Smart Build portfolio. Its automated risk analysis platform offers schedule tracking, cost and earned value analysis, installation issue detection, and updates the BIM with as-built conditions, effectively turning the model into a system of record. Hardware-agnostic by design, it serves customers including AECOM, Related, Columbia, and DPR across North America, Europe, and Japan, with the Avvir Capture product adding 360 photo upload and analysis in one place.

What it can do

  • Automated comparison of as-built scans and photos against the BIM
  • Deviation detection with out-of-tolerance measurements per element
  • Per-trade progress tracking against schedule with 4D BIM support
  • Cost and earned value analysis tied to completed work
  • BIM updated with as-built conditions as the system of record
  • Avvir Capture: 360 photo upload, placement on 2D plans, and BIM comparison
  • Hardware-agnostic reality capture workflow

Setup

Contact Avvir for a pilot; submit your BIM, agree a scanning schedule or capture with your own team, and review deviations in the customer portal.

Prerequisites

A BIM of the project; laser scanner or 360 camera for reality capture (or Avvir's scanning service).

Trust score — 7/10

/10 trustMetrics-checked

Scored 7/10 (metrics tier, metrics-v1). Evidence: operating since 2017; acquired by Hexagon in 2022 with integration into its Geosystems division; customers include AECOM, Related, Columbia, and DPR; hardware-agnostic platform. Strengths: closes the loop by updating the BIM with as-built conditions, per-trade progress and earned value tracking, strong institutional backing. Docked for: (1) pricing is custom-quoted; (2) detection accuracy claims are vendor-reported; (3) acquired status means the roadmap sits inside Hexagon. License: proprietary.
