Amazon Connect
Pay-as-you-go cloud contact center with built-in AI
About
Amazon Connect is AWS's cloud contact center — the same telephony engine that once routed Amazon's own retail support calls, rented out as a service since 2017. In 2026 AWS reframed it as Connect Customer, an AI-native contact center with no seat licenses and no minimums: voice $0.038/min, chat $0.010/message, email $0.080, SMS $0.014, with all AI capabilities bundled into the channel price. The AI stack includes agentic self-service, Amazon Q in Connect for real-time agent assist with cited answers, Contact Lens conversation analytics (sentiment, categorization, PII redaction), post-contact summaries, and AI forecasting and scheduling. It's HIPAA-eligible with PCI DSS, FedRAMP, SOC, and ISO 27001 support. The tradeoff is engineering burden: non-technical teams find flow design and integrations steep, custom reporting is hard to build, and the real advantage only materializes for AWS-centric shops.
