About

21st.dev Magic is an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server that generates modern UI components from natural-language descriptions. Type /ui create a modern navigation bar with dark mode toggle in your AI IDE chat and it searches 21st.dev's component library — described as "npm for design engineers," with 12,000+ community and official components, themes, and SVG brand logos — then generates a polished React + Tailwind component and adds it to your project.

The ecosystem includes the @21st-dev/cli installer (Cursor, Windsurf, Cline, Claude Code), a VS Code extension with DOM selection, design-context management (.21st/design.json), and a local UI code-review mode. Components are copied as source you own, shadcn/ui-style, with zero runtime dependency on the registry. Limitations: requires an API key from the Magic console; generated components still need review for accessibility and design-system fit; and output quality depends on how well the prompt describes the target.
